![]() Secondly, Relic is introducing a 'full tactical pause' feature, as players of Sega Total War series games will be familiar with. The first major change you will face is the 'Dynamic Campaign Map', which Relic explains as a "non-linear, decision-filled dynamic campaign map," providing more choice, diverse campaign experiences, and unpredictable missions – as you make the major strategic choices to shape your campaign – and this will be increasingly important as you advance. Your role as the commander with mouse and keyboard will be familiar in some ways - using the core tactical Company of Heroes 1 gameplay methods - but things have been changed up with a couple of important changes, as well as expansions to multiple game aspects – maps, factions, graphical fidelity, and more. This coincides with the Allies Operation Husky, an invasion of and northwards thrust through Italy. Not content with a bit of a tease, the developers have published plenty of information about the new game in the shape of multiple blog/forum posts, several images and videos, as well as releasing a free playable Company of Heroes 3 pre-alpha release (single player) worldwide.Ĭompany of Heroes 3 is a strategy war game set in the Mediterranean area in the summer of 1943. After eight long years, the third game in the series has finally been announced – and it is scheduled for release on PC in late 2022. Otherwise a back-up T-34 or two for ramming an armored vehicle is helpful for the tank destroyers sometimes.Relic Entertainment and Sega have blitzed gamers with a deluge of Company of Heroes 3 information. If you seem to be denying armor builds to the Germans, then a wolf-pack of T-34 tanks is pretty nice. For most matches, plan on rushing about 2 to 3 tank destroyers, unless you are feeling lucky or visibly controlling the petroleum on the map. Use snipers with hold fire orders, and scout cars, as scouts to locate targets for armor and artillery.ħ. ![]() Don't over-specialize in any doctrinal troop, and keep some conscripts nearby in reserve to keep the doctrinal troops in the field without retreating.ĥ. If you need help in controlling fuel depots early versus infantry, I'd say you can't go wrong with Partisans (cheap, easy to get, MG42 troops). Guard, buffed conscripts, etc.) are nice, but always situational to what you and your allies are rushing, and what the Germans are rushing. Support Clown Cars with conscripts and engineers deployed about the middle of the map, to keep the Penal troops continuously up in the field without having to go back to base.Ĥ. ![]() However it is easily countered by German armored cars, so you have to focus on denying fuel depots from very early in the match (like minute 3, I guess). If you want to control the field early, rushing Penal battalions with flamers in scout cars (the so-called Clown car strategy) is pretty viable. It is totally okay to rush past neutral areas with a sizeable force, if only to destroy a fuel depot, or to neutralize and mine a fuel depot.ģ. Soviets have to push aggressively early in the match, especially to control or deny gas points, while holding onto a majority of victory locations. A lot of Soviet commanders are situational and best as unique picks to support the other commanders.Ģ. only play 3v3 or 4vs4 against real people, and check with your team-mates for what DLC to get and what units they are rushing. ![]() If you want a really quick summary of what I've learned playing Soviets, it is:ġ. Steam forums are sometimes hit and miss, half the time being stupid demands for nerfs and buffs, but there are some good discussions about DLC commanders in detail. There are some pretty good ones, although patches probably affected their accuracy some. I'd recommend looking for some Soviet Guides in the Steam Community hubs.
